How to get your CSCS card explained

This Level 1 Award Health and Safety qualification is aimed at learners who currently work, or want to work, in construction. Successful completion will enable you to move on to take the CITB health, safety and environment test, and then apply for the new Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) Green Card. This card allows access to construction sites in the UK as a non-skilled worker.

The course

The online e-learning course takes approximately 2 hours to complete. You can complete the modules at your own pace and time.

Take the exam

The multi choice examination can be taken using a Desktop/Laptop computer. Passing this exam provides you the qualification you need.

CITB test

Once you achieve the Level 1 Award Health and Safety qualification, you can book and take your CITB Health, Safety and Environment test at a test centre.

CSCS Card

Following the qualification and CITB test achievement, you can apply for the Green CSCS Labourers Card allowing you to work on construction sites.

Costs

The course fee is £124. The CITB test fee is £22 (due when you book your test). The fee for the Green CSCS card is £36.

CITB stands for the Construction Industry Training Board and is the industry training board for the UK construction industry.

This course is for anyone wishing to apply for a Green CSCS Labourer Card to be able to work on a UK construction site.

The Green CSCS Card is for you if you wish to work in the construction industry as a labourer or in a similar entry-level position. It is the most common type of CSCS Card.

Green CSCS cards are valid for 5 years and must be renewed after this time. Depending on the qualifications that you used, you may need to take some tests again.
